This was a tragic but heartfelt story, that touched my heart and was so well written. About a mom’s journey through loss, separation, keeping her Christian faith and trying to save her son. As a mom, this was a story that I felt could have happened to me and I was engaged every second while listening. Violence and drug addiction effects each and every one of us. Leaving Yesterday touches gracefully on both those subjects and how they can effect “normal” families, even those with a Matriarch with a strong Christian faith. I highly recommend this audio book, especially to those parents that have lost a child and/or have a child battling drug addiction. I was sad it came to a end and just like the two other Kathryn Cushman audio books I have listened to, I cried the last 30 minutes of the story. And even though I was happy with the end, be warned Katherine doesn’t wrap everything up with a perfect bow. She keeps it realistic, which makes me love it that much more!
