Book 2 of The Legends of Ansu series is a continuation of Gray Wolf. It follows Corin an Fol as he strives to rescue Nalissa from her villainous captors.

Between J. W. Webb’s writing and Andrew McDermott’s narration, they pair perfectly to paint the story which allows the reader/listener to be transported to each scene and feel as if they are living the fantasy themselves.

This is the fourth book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. ??
We meet a new character, Higgins. He becomes Corin’s alley/nemesis. Their relationship is complicated. As Corin tries to retrieve Nalissa (his boss’ daughter) he learns there is a very dangerous assassin involved. And eventually he runs into someone he thought he’d never see again. Good thing too, because they often save his bacon. There is more behind these events than any of them can imagine.
The gods involvement is more cohesive in this book. Prior to this I’ve found it awkward and almost unnecessary.

This is the fourth book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Andrew McDermott ). He has great character voices (both male and female) and does well performing the book instead of just reading and that compensates for the distracting start-stop narration style (however I am getting used to it).

There are no explicit sex scenes, there is plenty of violence but not overly gory. There is mild, occasional swearing.

This the 2nd book in a series about Corin an Fol, former soldier, now mercenary. This book is better at developing the characters and settings. You easily feel as if you were there. Corin is a sort of good/bad guy and the main character. Hagen on the other hand is just a bad guy that is fessed out well and you grow to hate. It’s a great fast moving adventure that leaves you wanting more!
The author’s, J. W. Webb, style is perfectly matched with the narrator, Andrew McDermott. He is Corin an Fol. I highly recommend this book and series!
