Jim Summers was a classic case of the black sheep of the family. He grew up with parents and siblings who made it clear that they wished he didn’t exist. After a tough childhood with no options, Jim joins the Navy and becomes a lifer who finally retires with over 30 years in the service. Jim looks long and hard to determine where he wants to live out his days before settling on a remote part of Tennessee where he builds a cabin with a deep basement shelter. After a career in the Navy where Jim knew just how close we had come to nuclear war on multiple occasions, he becomes a hard core prepper and outfits his homestead for the worst. By chance, Jim meets an attractive woman the same age as himself one day in the grocery. The two become fast friends and even move in together to ease the salacious pressure created due to a divorce and false accusations. Together, Jim and Cheyanne live out the worst scenario possible when the inevitable nuclear war finally happens. After emerging from their shelter, the two struggle to rebuild their lives and survive in a very changed world.
