Osho describes how our goal orientation can never be satisfied. After power and sex, fame and fortune we can move on to enlightenment, finding God, whatever. How can we get out of the trap of desire and enjoy being alive?

This was an excellent Osho talk. It was a question-answer session and the topics were spread out. What made this one really good was at one point Osho starts talking about habits that people have like smoking, sex addiction and eating disorders. The concept was quite simple, rather than resisting something you are struggling with, accept it and come to terms with it. He essentially said you can smoke in a meditative state with awareness and blow the most beautiful smoke rings. His opinion is that its people's past that creates these hangups. As an example a Father that wanted to keep his son from smoking, violently beats him, yells at him and grounds him for catching him smoking. Years down the road the child is an adult, the Father is long dead and to get revenge the person is stuck smoking. Even though he sees why his Dad said not to do it, he is caught in the habit and he continues doing it as a rebellion even though there is no one to rebel against. Osho said the conscious mind says this is bad stop doing it but the subconscious says this is a beautiful thing with purpose please continue. When something is no longer forbidden than it becomes far easier to quit. This was Osho's take on it and I like the concept so I mention it here. There have been many Osho talks on Audible but this one stands out just for his mentioning this one topic. Rather than running away or denying yourself, you are to face it head on with awareness and then when you make the decision not to do it anymore it's not for rebellions sake or because you shouldn't be doing it. This Osho talk had many other topics covered and this was just my favorite topic I mention here. It was a decent speech and well worth your time.

Many topics are covered: Addiction, the play of life, doing versus non-doing.

If you like Osho, if you're familiar with his work, if you've ever listened to an Eastern meditation teacher, you'll likely find value and enjoyment in this recording.

Personally, I often find helpful gems of wisdom from Osho - ideas and values that have raised my quality of living. As one who has read more than listened to this teacher, the opportunity to hear his voice (and live audience) was a delight

But it isn't for everyone. Production value is far below expectations set by digital production. He speaks slowly, with distinct pauses, as if waiting for just the right words to surface before speaking. (Also, with a pronounced Indian accent. Try the sampler.) The 21st century Western mind might need some adjusting to this recording. For some, the books created from his talks might be more accessible.

It's Osho, live, recorded in the 70's
