Darrow returns as Pierce Brown’s New York Times bestselling Red Rising series continues in the thrilling sequel to Dark Age.

“The measure of a man is not the fear he sows in his enemies. It is the hope he gives his friends.”—Virginia au Augustus

The Reaper is a legend, more myth than man: the savior of worlds, the leader of the Rising, the breaker of chains.

But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend.

The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.

why did I commit to an unfished series

After such a long wait finally started to listen to this and after multiple stops just to stop and savor this wonderful book. There are multiple times I had to stop and check who the chapter is about, I still wait for different people to read different characters and to be honest this doesn't even sound like Tim Gerard Reynolds who I absolutely love. I'm still going to keep the book and re listen to it multiple times.

I'm so excited to listen to this!

Absolutely loved this book and can't wait for the next. Also, I personally liked the switch back to the single narrator. I know that some have complained that he sounds different but I believe that is partially because the narrator had a very bad illness which has had some lingering negative effects on his voice.

Best of the Series

Oh boy. The reviews are spot on re the narration. 7 Hours in and Mr Gerard Reynolds has lost the highLingo Lune accent for Lysander and now sounds like Darrow. I wonder how it happens that the previous cast didn't sign on for this 30+ hour audiobook. I blame the publisher and contract negotiations.

Thankfully, I also purchased the Kindle version and gave up on the Audible version.

Now onto the story... Let's face it. The Red Rising saga is about violence, conflict, and the inability to live in peace. But oh my. There were some hilarious scenes. Like Eaglet One, Volga, and Cassisus' jaw.

Ew... Lysander is a sociopath and completely unhinged. I suppose every story needs a dastardly villain. I can't wait for him to be beaten, figuratively and literally.

And... oh my. That ending 😭 How long do I have to wait for the (supposed) last book in this saga?

Bloodydamn, boyo!
