In combat, speed is life.

Admiral Jack Romanoff and his people have seized control of Faust and now have a base of operations, though the people of that world aren't completely pleased by his presence or actions. That's okay because he doesn't have time to worry about them. He needs to strike the Locusts before they spread even more than they already have in the wreck everything humanity has built.

If you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough.

With everything on the line, he can't afford to leave anything on the table. All his weapons and tricks have to be brought to bear now if they intend to save the Confederation. If they fail, humanity will be enslaved or worse. The time for victory is now.

He who hesitates is lost.

the story line is excellent, however in this book there seemed to be a bit more pontificating by a number of characters, which at times made the story seem to drag on longer than necessary, as if the author is trying to stretch out how many books that can be written in this series. as such, my attention and interest waned in some parts. the ending lacked, in that, again, it sounded like the author wants to drag out the sequences longer. I may continue, just because I'd like to see the ending, but how far that ending is depends on how much more pontification I want to endure. another item is that often the battleship commanders seem to need a finely detailed, long-driven, explanation for tactical (relatively) decisions or recommendations made during the heat of battle - as if the battle pauses while the flag crew discusses the next action - while in reality (fictionally speaking) the battle continues around them.

almost as good as previous

This keeps getting better and better. Keep up the great work. I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Another great addition to the story

Progress of the story lines is not all that interesting, not much action. I’m giving this two stars, the last two books in this series are snoozers.

Another slow moving story…
