The Polity is under attack from a "melded" AI entity with control of the lethal Jain technology, yet the attack seems to have no coherence. When one of Erebus' wormships kills millions on the world of Klurhammon, a high-tech agricultural world of no real tactical significance, agent Ian Cormac is sent to investigate, though he is secretly struggling to control a new ability no human being should possess... and beginning to question the motives of his AI masters. Further attacks and seemingly indiscriminate slaughter ensue, but only serve to bring some of the most dangerous individuals in the Polity into the war. Mr Crane, the indefatigable brass killing machine sets out for vengeance, while Orlandine, a vastly-augmented haiman who herself controls Jain technology, seeks a weapon of appalling power and finds allies from an ancient war.

Meanwhile Mika, scientist and Dragon expert, is again kidnapped by that unfathomable alien entity and dragged into the heart of things: to wake the makers of Jain technology from their five-million-year slumber. But Erebus' attacks are not so indiscriminate, after all, and could very well herald the end of the Polity itself....

Great book, great series.... I wish Audible would get all of them. I would've enjoyed the three available books even more without the gaps in the storyline.

Could we get the whole series?.. Please?

After listening to this series, it seems like I’m missing some important pieces, I wish the entire series was here on audible in the United States

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get it all

the writing was great, the narration was very nice, characters maintaining an accent across a half dozen books. however the choice of accents was seemingly random. well done, but random.

great conclusion to a solid series.

This book is faceted, and full of memorable characters new and old.

A good book.

God killer

Love the story, it's a logical wrap-up of the entire Agent Cormac series, it has galaxy wide battles, AI's galore, Jain technology of size and description, Dragon is a key player.... you get the idea.

There are two words I wish Mr. Asher would use more sparingly:

1) HOWEVER
2) TREACLE

Seriously.

I think it's the usual stuff you expect from Mr. Asher. He loves to describe how the technologies work (and I love it too.... he knows a little too much about chlorine if you ask me), he does a good job filling in the backstory of Dragon and Orlandine ( I started with the Rise of the Jain series, so I appreciate this), and he really explains the Jain much better.

If you enjoy Asher's work, this book will not disappoint you.

Neal Asher doesn't disappoint....
