Polly Waterford is recovering from a toxic relationship. Unable to afford their flat, she has to move miles away from everyone, to a sleepy little seaside resort in Cornwall, where she lives alone above an abandoned shop. And so Polly takes out her frustrations on her favorite hobby: making bread.

But what was previously a weekend diversion suddenly becomes far more important as she pours her emotions into kneading and pounding the dough, and each loaf becomes better and better. With nuts and seeds, olives and chorizo, with local honey (courtesy of local beekeeper, Huckle), and with reserves of determination and creativity Polly never knew she had, she bakes and bakes and bakes...and people start to hear about it. Sometimes bread really is life...and Polly is about to reclaim hers.

The story is sweet, nice beach/coast story. But the narrators male voices....ugh. I kept going because I wanted to know the end! But the make voices needed work!!

This was a great light romance. I love the baking theme with it. Loved the characters. The person reading had terrible voices. It made it hard to listen to.

Great story probably better read

The story is lovely, with great descriptions of the land and sea. Some of the characters need more in depth development, a little less absurdity, though this is possibly due to the tone of narration. The narrator does well enough with the female voices, but is dreadful with the male ones, especially Huckle’s “southern” accent. Possibly think of using a male for those characters in the future?

Lovely story; needs a better narrator.

This is a great little story and I'm so glad it's a series with the same characters - can't wait to start book 2! But the narration is tough. I normally love listening to Brit Lit bc of the narrator's accent but this one's voice sounded too mature for the characters and the attempt at American accents was not well executed. It was tough to listen to at times. That said, it's worth muddling through bc the story is sweet and engaging. Be warned about the narration but give it a listen anyway!

Cute story, tough narration
