Maybe the list itself will be enough to erase all of the little surrenders that have brought her to this place. After all, as she tells herself and her friends: Mike’s a great husband, and she loves him. If she can just find a way to hang on a little longer, maybe she can discover enough of herself to make those lies true again.

But with each step forward - from stashing the cash to obtaining a false identity to others she didn’t anticipate - she finds herself accelerating down a steep slope, surprised that she’s enjoying the fall and getting to know the stranger she may actually be.

Very Enthralling!

This book was very enthralling! My only wish is that it was longer. The narration was superb. Great short story.

Short story that sort of kept my attention....

The women made little surrenders to keep her partner happy. She was in a marriage for 10 years and wanted out. Don't understand why she felt the need for him to be dead. Just take off like she planned. The end confused me a bit...she was looking over the balcony. Did she actually leave the hotel room or commit suicide? It kind of ended leaving me wondering.

While the story was very good, I found it a little too short and didn't hold my attention. Although the narration was not bad, I found a little more emotion would have been more captivating.

from the last handful of short stories I e read lately, this was one of the better ones. recommend
