This is a story from the Great Explorers collection.

Here are the stories of nine great adventures and the lives of the men who took part in them. They pushed back the frontiers of man's knowledge of the world by their vision, courage, and sheer doggedness. They were very different people, from bold adventurers facing the unknown with enjoyment to careful, more scientific individuals. Their journeys are placed within their historical context, but also contain the words of the men themselves.

Editorial reviews

This installment in David Angus’ Great Explorers series provides a concise and compelling account of the lives and discoveries of the now-infamous 19th-century figures Sir Henry Morton Stanley, journalist and explorer, and David Livingstone, a Scottish missionary whose work led him deep into central Africa. This lively audiobook recounts the tale of Stanley’s search for the missing Livingstone and their subsequent travels together throughout the region.

Frances Jeater, Kerry Shale, and Sam Dastor are all strong and dependable voice actors whose clear enunciation, measured, predictable pacing, and deft attention to tone make Angus’s thrilling adventurer series easy to learn from and enjoy.

Great short description of two men who shaped history. Some good details not found in the history book, nice classical introductory music, narrator is clear and easy to understand. My 9 and 5 year olds could follow it. Emphasizes Livingstone’s Christian faith and desire to halt the slave trade in a respectful, but not overt, way. Worth the credit.

Excellent for our Africa chapter
