Standalone Listen with Limited Momentum

A short, novella-style story that I picked up as a standalone. While there’s clearly some backstory tied to earlier books, I didn’t feel completely lost—though I do think I missed some character depth because of it.

The pacing is on the slower side, especially in the beginning, and at times it feels more like wrapping up existing storylines than building something new. There is a central mystery, but it never quite reaches the level of tension or engagement I was hoping for.

That said, it’s still an easy, quick listen if you’re already invested in the series.
