When Josh Hagarty is recruited by the charitable organization NewAfrica to manage a farming project in an underdeveloped African country, he signs on, figuring that he can put his newly acquired graduate degree in engineering to good use. But when Josh gets situated in Africa, he finds that NewAfrica may not be the philanthropic charity it purports to be.

With the help of Annika Gritdal, a beautiful Scandinavian aid worker, and journalist J. B. Flannery, Josh must fight to uncover the truth. And soon they realize that some people will stop at nothing - even murder - to keep those facts secreted away.

I finished and sort of feel like I deserve the star. this again is one of those books where the fiction lands squarely in the realm of probably happening more often than not. at one point I jumped forward about 2 hours and was so suprised to hear what I heard that I backed it up about 90 minutes and listened to the end. if I had not had some mind to the ending (not being like the beginning) I probably would have just set it aside.

hard to finish

Genius plot. I did not see the New Africa scam coming. It makes me wonder if a scam like this is going on now in 2025. Loved the good guys. Great determination and growth of the main character, Josh. The bad guys were so well written and get their just dues. Sadly the story of Africa is all too real. The narrator wow! He was brilliant with all the accents. It was a delight to listen to this book.

Great title for a great book
