Jack Harper, a former drug addict living on the streets of Lincoln Nebraska, is no ordinary homeless man. Self-deprecating, humble, and searching for answers, Jack spends his days in complete anonymity and is content in his solitary existence until he meets Kate and her young son, Jacky. The child is instantly smitten with Jack which endears his young mother to the bedraggled man. As their friendship grows, it becomes clear to Jack that things are not always as they seem and life works in mysterious ways. For years he had always felt as if he were lost in perdition, but the genuine kindness shown by Kate and her son makes him realize there is so much more to life than mislaid hopes and dreams.

The story is so descriptive it sets each moment clearly. The emotions of the characters are vivid and the narrator is perfect for keeping the conversations coherent and lifelike. It was as if I was listening to a movie. (and a great one at that) an emotional breakdown may have happened. while there are some vulgarity, it is necessary for the role and sells the situation understandably. Trigger warning for miscarriage and addiction. I have to say im not an avid reader, this was definitely a great listen and highly recommend!

absolutely a great book

This story was so well written. It sucks you in and you can’t wait to see what the outcome is. You want Jack to make all the right decisions when he’s making all the wrong ones. Just listening to how his life panned out made me upset and sad, but then happy and content. Just when you think life for Jack has hit rock bottom, he makes life so much more for others. They could not have picked a better storyteller for the audio version of this book. I have to say, this is the best audiobook I have listened to yet and I have listened to many. The gentleman reading this brings out the story like nobody else could. You can feel that the writer of the story wrote this with so much conviction and passion in her heart, and you can feel it through her storyline.

WOW, SUCH A HEARTFELT STORY 💗
