In the winter forests of 17th-century Huron Country, sickness spreads like a curse.

Children whisper in voices not their own. Bodies twist, bleed, and break without cause. The elders fear disease—but Waban, a respected Wendat (Huron) shaman, knows the truth is far worse. Something ancient has crossed into the living world. A spirit that does not belong to this land.

As the tribe fractures under fear and the pressures of the lucrative fur trade, a Jesuit priest arrives with fire and scripture, convinced the Devil hides behind every native rite. To Father LeClair, salvation demands submission. To Waban, survival demands balance.

When a young girl becomes the vessel for a force born of hunger, conquest, and belief itself, shaman and priest are forced into an uneasy alliance—one that may destroy them both.
