Marie Sklodowska Curie (1867–1934) was the first woman scientist to win worldwide acclaim and was, indeed, one of the great scientists of the twentieth century. Written by Curie’s daughter, the renowned international activist Eve Curie, this biography chronicles Curie’s legendary achievements in science, including her pioneering efforts in the study of radioactivity and her two Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry.

It also spotlights her remarkable life, from her childhood in Poland to her storybook Parisian marriage to fellow scientist Pierre Curie, to her tragic death from the very radium that brought her fame.

I loved this book, it is so personal from the point of view of her own daughter. Her live was so remarkable and a true example and inspiration for absolutely everyone, regardless of gender and age. It is very well written, loved all the personal stories, Irene playing with her big penny (a medal), and Marie going to donate all the medals (including Nobel prizes), when France asked citizens for metal during the war, luckily they were not accepted.

The best biography of Marie Curie

From an early age, Marie Curie was a determined young woman who loved science. Despite the difficulties she experienced as a woman scientist, she was focused on her goals. The rewards and accolades she received later in life were of more importance to her admirers than to her. A very inspiring story.

Her resilience and determination
