SEALED WITH A KISS

Death is as common as breath. Amid the bloody turmoil of the American Revolution, young Océane Frankenstein uses her misbegotten knowledge and aching sorrows to usurp the bounds of mortality, crafting life from death. Thus awakens a tragic being who does not assuage his maker, but mirrors the tormented depths of her soul. The story of Océane and her Creature is born of violence and sublime terror. Of grief and obsession. Of love and loneliness. Of beauty and tenderness. And of the tangled bond between creator and creation. Mademoiselle Frankenstein is a haunting reimagining of Mary Shelley’s classic tale, revealing that in the end, the real horror is longing for those who can only be longed for.

I loved the audiobook version of this gothic tale! I had both the kindle and the audio version, but couldn’t stop listening. The performance really brought the author’s words (written in the style of the times) to life in a deliciously engaging manner. It’s a wild ride plumbing grotesque depths but shot through with beauty as it pulls you deftly through every imaginable emotion.
Usually I can use audio books as a sleep aid, but this definitely kept me up and wanting more! Looking forward to savoring the book version as well.

An extravagantly wild ride
