Magdalene Nox doesn't cast wishes upon stars . . .

She simply makes them happen. But for this particular wish, she had waited for thirty years. Her retribution against those who discarded her three decades ago should be swift and simple.

Except a chance encounter and an unforgettable night turn her entire life upside down. Torn between vengeance and lust, Magdalene is forced to reevaluate everything.

Can the Home of Dragons and lonely math teacher Sam Threadneedle—who finds herself stranded amidst longing and fury—withstand the storm that is Magdalene Nox, or will any and all be consumed by the flames of revenge?

Not everything is as it seems, and as Magdalene returns to the place that left her wounded and lost all those years ago, she realizes that old oak and stone hide more than secrets and pain. They also hold forgiveness and love.

Contains mature themes.

Absolutely loved it! This book is essentially the same story but from Magdalene’s POV. While the plot was identical from The Headmistress, it didn’t feel redundant. I did have a rather large gap between listening to the two books which I’m glad I did, I don’t know if I would’ve enjoyed or appreciated it as much if I listened to the two back to back.

And of course Abby Craden is amazing, as she always is!

Way better than I anticipated!

Abby Craden does a fantastic job voicing all the characters in this book, and what an absolutely brilliant story this is. Milena McKay does write fantastic stories, and this is one of my favorites. It’s the telling of The Headmistress from the point of view of Magdalene Nox. If you aren’t sure whether it’s worth reading/listening to the same story let me assure you that it most definitely is.

Fantastically narrated, and a marvelous book

Melina McKay and Abby Craden are a match made in heaven! The Headmistress is one of my favorite books and Abby‘s narration made it one of my absolute favorite audiobooks! That being said I thoroughly enjoyed Magdalene‘s point of view in this book. Having listened to The Headmistress way too many times to count, I was able to figure out that there was two points where Abby narrated a line in the wrong characters voice.

Overall, I will say this is one of the best different point of view books that I have “read “. Melina wrote this book in a way that made you interested in the story all over again without it sounding repetitive. It gives you a new appreciation for Magdalene’s experience. It is so worth the read!

And another one!
