What if you could learn the ultimate teachings of Tibetan Buddhism as they were meant to be received - guided every step of the way by an experienced master? This practice, known as Mahamudra or "The Great Revelation", was once taught only to elite students in secluded monasteries and cloisters.

Now renowned teacher Dr. Reginald Ray has created an unprecedented audio learning course to make this profoundly transformative path available to listeners everywhere, with Mahamudra for the Modern World. This program features meditations and insights never before available to a general audience.

This is an unbelievable recording to have gotten from Audible for one credit! Hours and hours (over 36 hours) of instruction on meditation and Tibetan Buddhism. Really an enormous collection of information that needs to be taken in small doses--in my opinion. I try and listen each day and follow the instructions during quiet times. This isn't a book to be plowed through or listened to on the go. Not the thing to hear while driving or doing other things. It demands full attention. Definitely worth the time it takes to listen. Highly recommended if you are ready to take the next step in meditation instruction at home and at your own pace. I go back and listen to various parts many times. Something not possible at a retreat. An excellent way to have something close to a retreat experience while never leaving home.

A Truly Amazing Recording

Reggie is a man of great sincerity and honesty. I am not a part of their meditation group, just so you know. This is the best deal you will ever find in an audiobook. That is if you are looking to explore your inner self and your connection to the Universe in a more intimate way.
The big difference between this and a regular book is that this is his voice telling you in detail about the age long practices of this unique meditation style. And the other aspect is he guides you through the practices, which takes you to levels you probably wouldn't go on your own. Listening to a voice that comes from true experience resonates into your inner self and you just let go and ...... well you go to a wondrous place, where the little you is not so important any more.
One hint that I would share is when you get to each practice, mark down the time and place to relocate it again easily. You will want to do some of the exercises many times before moving on. And another part of you will want to listen to his insightful lectures on the practices and the workings of this beautiful science and you will want to listen to it like a book. Of course whatever works for each person is the ideal, but I found it helpful to stop and do the practices of the meditation and dive into it to see the effect on my life before I listened to too much more. That worked the best for me.
In case people hesitate to get this thinking it may conflict with their current meditation or religious practices, don't let it bother you, it will only help what your spiritual life is already like. I have meditated regularly for decades and have used breath work for the same amount of time, and this teaching only enhanced it. More like Universal depth psychology, with the natural opening of Mystical aspect that we all taste but don't hang long enough to digest or work with.
Wish you the same fun and tenderness that I found in savoring this gift from Reggie, and the lineage.

I have practiced for some time in another tradition. I have since moved on from that particular path and have been looking for something re-spark my connection to inner work. I am only interested in something that brings direct experience and not layered with other prerequisites or leaps of faith that contradict common sense and verifiable experience. I have been listening to this series and am only about a fifth of the way through but have found it to be all that I have been looking for and more. Ray is direct, humble, knowledgeable, sincere, and articulate in his delivery. I have indeed found my fire to be rekindled. Thanks.
I saw another review asking about a tracks list, I don't have an answer to that but something I found helpful was the Audible app in my iPhone allowed me to bookmark places and add a note. So, for example, I could bookmark the place where the vase breathing technique is described, label it, and go back to the exact spot whenever I want.

Any additional comments?

This is a very powerful and profound meditation program. I have been meditating for about 20 years on my own without instruction. After attending a week of Dathun at the Shambhala Mt Center but knowing very little about Buddhism, I decided that I wanted more meditation instruction.

Mahamudra feels very esoteric to me, I love connecting to the universe through these meditations. This program is 37 hours long. The first couple of hours of the audio is Reggie talking about Mahamudra, and then he begins teaching meditation. There are many guided meditations throughout. I have been listening when possible to his talks during my daily walk or while I'm driving. When it comes time to do a meditation, I find an hour or so of quiet time at home and dedicate myself fully to it. I constantly look forward to practicing what I have learned.

I would whole-heartedly recommend this to someone who is interested in deepening their meditation practice, and is looking for a program that they want to do on their own time. Thanks Reggie Ray! I will definitely come to your mountain retreat someday!
