Revival is more like stoking a fire than catching lightning in a bottle. Pastor, author, and missionary statesman A.B. Simpson said it this way: "It is much easier to keep the fire burning than to rekindle it after it has gone out." Once God has lit the flame, how do we keep it burning? How do we sustain revival? What are the common issues that extinguish or quench the flame and what sort of proactive steps can we take in order to avoid letting the flame die? Is it possible for the initial flame to get bigger and hotter over time? Can we learn to stoke the fire and not quench the flame?

Based on Jesus’ command/invitation to abide in Him (Jn 15), we must Make Disciples that Sustain Revival.

By revival, I mean; Spiritual Renewal that leads to Social Change.

I have observed that there are certain practices, disciplines, values, or strategies that facilitate sustaining revival.

Those strategies are:
Be Filled with the Holy Spirit
Value the Manifest Presence of God
Grow in Spiritual Formation
Develop a Healthy Soul
Live in Community

Each of these principles is Biblically rooted. Further, church history and personal experience demonstrate the value of these principles when practiced as well as the damage that can be done when these principles are neglected.
