Humankind’s first mistake was the worst mistake in history.

Tom and Katie Preston wind up in the small town of Manchineel while driving up north with their three children for a much-needed family vacation in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The town is unlike any other they have seen in real life, photographs, or on screens -- a true paradise unrivaled in its natural beauty and pristine historic structures. Warm hospitality is followed by a lively supper with the church deacons and the town’s reverend discussing the town’s rich history. Having retired to sleep in good spirits, the Prestons’ world is shattered when Tom and Katie wake up the next morning to find their children gone without a trace and everyone in Manchineel acting as if the children were never there. As Tom and Katie frantically race to find their children, the ancient truth behind Manchineel begins to reveal itself.
