The events take place in one of the largest and oldest San Francisco's department stores. A casual visit to see mannequins drifts into a fantasy territory with a slightly disturbing turn of events; nothing extreme, though, and with a happy ending.
The book is written as a rhymed narration where most of the lines are rhymed. It is not a poetry in the traditional sense of the word.
