I am the world's biggest "North and South" fan, so I simply had to listen to this book. The story starts near the end of the original manuscript. The weaving of this alternate "ending" is quite clever. Although some suspension of disbelief must be maintained, the story works and skillfully creates plenty of tension and suspense. The love story is painfully precious. I broke down and cried twice. I'm not sure if only diehard fans can appreciate this, or whether a novice would feel the same. However, for those who have a solid understanding of the original story, this alternate continuation is like a rare jewel to be treasured and remembered. I am highly impressed by the author's imagination and writing skill. The ending was beautiful and satisfying. I hope to read more stories from this author in the future.

Great story. Nice to read that John and Margaret get married and have a baby. However, not a fan of virtual voice.

Nice Compliment to North and South

I’m not usually big on adaptations but this one had such high reviews, I decided to give it a try. I loved the story! It was exactly what I hoped for. And I was pleasantly surprised at how well the narration turned out. Virtual Voice did better than some human narrators I’ve listened to!

Very Satisfying

It's a rewrite of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South. it's enjoyable to listen because it's focus is on the relationship between Mr Thornton and Miss Hale. There are sections that are a bit cliche but overall good read. I've listened to this audio again and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've decided it's a wonderful adaptation of the original North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell's book. I can't seem to get enough of this audiobook. It is well worth listening to.

I've decided that this adaptation is my favorite.
