Marriage Underdogs is a story about a young man who is searching for love but learns the critical lesson that before you can really love someone else you must learn to value and love yourself.

Chris struggled with learning to love himself, and in the process, he had to overcome one setback after another. You will follow Chris's journey toward marriage as he encounters setbacks. He tells his story through the lens of a broken young man who had to put all the pieces of himself back together before his desire to commit as a husband underneath the covenant of marriage could be taken seriously by his wife.

Chris is a person who exemplifies a real comeback. He shares how he was able to turn his setbacks, both those that happened to him and the ones he created, into a powerful and amazing comeback story.

Chris A. Matthews is an award-winning marriage counselor, professional speaker, and author who specializes in repairing personal and professional relationships. Chris is the founder and owner of Relationship Counseling Group, PLLC and Behavioral Health Intervention Center, LLC, which are two mental health practices based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. Chris is a licensed marriage and family therapist, (LMFT), licensed clinical addiction specialist (LCAS), certified clinical supervisor (CCS), certified life coach, and approved supervisor for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). He’s also been featured on the D.L. Hughley Radio Show, Good DAY DC, PIX11's New York Living, Black Enterprise, and NPR. Chris holds both a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
