Twelve women connected by the death of another, realizing what they most want from life and reaching for it - this is the year of discovery, the year of new beginnings.
Lizzie Reed wanted to be a pediatric nurse after watching her younger sister, Margaret, struggle as an infant with a hole in her heart. Going to college had been a given from the time she was a child. Her parents never planned it any other way, but when Lizzie goes to a party and wakes up in a guy’s bed without any memory of how she got there, the world comes crashing down around her.
How can she pick up and move on as if nothing ever happened? And what do you do when you can’t remember an event, but everyone is telling you you need to take a stand? Lizzie has to face her demons and make a decision that may change the course of her life forever. More than that, she has to face her parents, and let them know she isn’t the same little girl they think she is.

This is the 5th story in The Year of Discovery series, and I think it's one of my favourites. The main character is a young woman, barely out of her teenage years, who has suffered more than she should and finally finds courage to ask for help... She's sensitive, she's broken, and yet she manages to finally find strength within herself to go on with her life...
As in all the stories in the series, the pace is fast and maybe the matters do solve themselves a bit too quickly and too smoothly but the issues those stories touch upon are important and concern a great number of women in the world. And they give us hope that one day women will be strong enough for teir voices to be heard - we only have to make this first small step into the world to start an avalanche...:)
As in all the books in the series, narration by Ms Hazen is very good. She is emotional in all the right moments and impartial in the narrative parts. And she does all the voices really well in the series, even the male ones sound rather natural:)
