Lucas has always avoided contact with The Twelve. That changes when Brennan is taken by a group of vampires intent on destroying one mate while capturing the other. After waiting several human lifetimes to find his mate, Lucas wont sit back and lose Brennan. They're all forced to seek out The Twelve, the ancient vampires who rule over all others.

When they reach the hidden fortress of the Consortium, they soon realize there's more going on than they ever could have imagined. They're forced to become the hunters through an unfamiliar landscape where not only are they the predators, but quite possibly the prey.

Good

I just listened to Cold Blood, Warm Heart and wasn't crazy about it because it felt too much like filler and I wanted to see them interact with Ben's friends. I liked this story much better. Ben and Leon's actions were more substancial. And Lucas and Brennan were much more present and involved. I liked how Guy Veryzer did Heughen's Scottish accent. The story had more action, suspense, and danger.

Confronting the twelve

Melting Darkness is the third book in the Consortium Trilogy. The twelve seek and separate mated pairs in order to control all vampirekind. When a Consortium team attempts to kidnap Brennan and Leon, Lucas and Ben decide that they need to take the Consortium down.
Lots of action and edge of the seat tension. The mysteries and plot lines from all the books are resolved with a few twists. The ending is satisfying. It leaves a little bit of wiggle room for a possibility of more.
Guy Veryzer's narration was rough and gravely. Honestly, it took a bit to get used to. But then it occurred to me that a growly voice fit very well in this vampire world. He'd probably rock werewolves.
The audio was nicely paced. A 'fun' read. Would love to read/hear more about Euan and his brother. There's just something about a Scottish accent.

Great series finale!

All loose ends are tied up as the two fated couples from the previous books stand up to the Consortium, the group of ancient vampires that rule and submit all vampires. Things are not always what the four of them believed to be and as Lucas, Brennan, Ben and Leon prepare to face the Consortium, they gather new friends and allies and reveal a lot of secrets along the process.
A great mix of fated-mates love and action, this last book, performed by Guy Veryzer, is an excellent ending to a very interesting series.

Fantasy

Melting Darkness by B. L. Maxwell is an excellent vampire gay fantasy thriller romance. Guy Veryzer did an amazing job with the narration. Melting Darkness is the third book in Consortiums trilogy. Melting Darkness clears up most of the questions from the other books. The story is entertaining, enjoyable, funny, thrilling, and more. Wonderful story.

I absolutely loved this story. Evil beings coming out from behind years of evil doings only to be stopped by others of their kind. Good vampires tracked down and put an end to the evil while also keeping their mates safe is a wonderful way to be. I was able to listen to this story and that made it even better. I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves mm love stories and with a little danger on the side.
