Stratton carries out a small task in Central America as a favour to a CIA officer, but it leads him to become embroiled in a national rebellion. Against his own principles, the special operative becomes emotionally involved and decides to join the popular uprising. However, he is unaware that the fight is not just against the local government - the CIA is very much involved. As events spiral disastrously out of control, Stratton must face up to his biggest and most treacherous challenge yet.

Critic reviews

For The Protector: "A gripping and authentic view of life and death in the dangerous world of private protection." (Soldier)
For The Operative: "His novels contain even more bangs than rival Andy McNab's." ( Mirror)
For The Hostage: "Inevitably he'll be compared to Andy McNab, but I'd say Falconer has the edge." ( Mail on Sunday)

This book is not horrible, its not great either. It is pretty standard fair for this kind of story. Soldier, of course special forces gets an assignment from a dirty boss that doesn't like him. Sets soldier up for a fall delivering weapons to rebels we 'support'. Daughter of leader is beautiful. Soldier falls in love. Has no idea why he is doing this. Gets captured. Gets away. Helps in final battle heroically. Gets away? There are some surprises, I did not just give away the story, but it is pretty cookie cutter. If you like this genre a lot then jump in, the writing is decent, better than the average for the type and there are some twists and turns and if it is your thing you will like it. But it is not ground-breaking literature in any way shape or form. Recommended only for die hard fans of the genre.
