Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday which literally means The “Fifth of May.” The date is a celebration to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza. Every year on this date, throughout Mexico and the United States, people celebrate Mexican food and culture.
