It was only for the summer.

Kel Bryan needed someone to look after things until his regular housekeeper returned in the fall.

Megan Roarke thought spending the summer on a ranch in the middle of Wyoming sounded like a nice break between jobs.

Kel was sure he could ignore Megan’s pretty blue eyes and her ridiculously long legs. Well, he was pretty sure.

Megan wasn’t looking for romance, even if her tall, dark and very handsome boss made her feel a little breathless and his smile made her knees go weak. It was just physical attraction, nothing she couldn’t handle. Right?

It wasn’t long before the two of them were spending the warm, summer nights tangled up together in Kel’s big bed but it was nothing to worry about. It was just a summer affair, just two adults acting on a mutual attraction.

Kel knew better than to mistake lust for love. He’d been there, done that and had the divorce certificate to prove he’d learned his lesson.

Megan definitely wasn’t foolish enough to expect this to lead to happily ever after. That wasn’t the way life worked – not her life anyway. So what if she’d been foolish enough to fall in love with Kel? When summer ended, she’d smile and say good-bye.

She might be leaving her heart behind but she’d be taking something more precious with her – the child Kel didn’t know she carried.
