Jamaica is special. I felt exceptional listening to the trucks blow their horns as they traversed the hills of St Mary.
Outside the gate of Errol's farm, men in Khaki pants and shirts and women with colorful frocks walked up the hills with loads on their heads.
After following him around for hours, I finally asked, "Errol, do children and people starve in Jamaica?"— "Only the lazy ones," was his curt answer.
"Plants provide food, but you can only enjoy it when you do something; when you go to the rees - the trees will not come to you," he added, "it's like everything else in life, it's all there for us but we must pursue what is important; happiness, love, and wealth." Errol's bucket of wisdom was infinite, and he gladly shared it with a smile. I was his way.
He then reached down, gently picked the caterpillar off the Callaloo leaf, and placed it on another leaf. In harvesting his Callaloo, he would gently remove the caterpillars and put them on younger plants.
"No pesticides?" I asked.
They are not pests; they are our aviators in the making..
