Lucy Maud Montgomery (November 30, 1874 – April 24, 1942), published as L. M. Montgomery, was a Canadian author best known for a series of novels beginning in 1908 with Anne of Green Gables. The book was an immediate success. The title character, orphan Anne Shirley, made Montgomery famous in her lifetime and gave her an international following.

A Millionaire's Proposal: It is all settled at last, and in another week I shall have left Thrush Hill. I am a little bit sorry and a great bit glad. I am going to Montreal to spend the winter with Alicia.

The reader is totally, absolutely all wrong. First of all, the main character is a young girl who is supposed to be telling the story, NOT a forty-year old British chap who sounds kind of creepy, actually.
He sounds like what I would imagine an upper-class serial killer might sound as he describes to his victim all the ways there are to die. Yeah. Like that. But, he’s telling the story of a young girl as though HE were the young girl.
Tell me, why would Audible think that’s a good idea?
I should have listened to the sample first, so I’m partly to blame.
I’ll tell you one thing; never again. Sample first every time!
