It's the intel every agent fears - terrorists have been smuggled into the country, intent on unleashing the most deadly attack since 9/11. With the threat imminent, FBI Agent Kiley Dawson and ICE Agent Evan Bowers are charged with taking down this terrorist cell. The only problem is Kiley blames Evan for the death of her former partner, and she can barely be in a room with him. But with millions of lives on the line, she has no choice.

If it wasn't for a bad call Evan made, Kiley's former partner would still be alive, and Evan has to live with that guilt for the rest of his life. When he starts falling for her, the agent's death seems an impossible obstacle - but it's also the last thing he needs to think about. As the terrorist plot targets Kiley's family, the two are pushed to the breaking point in a race to save countless lives.

The narrator’s voice was irritating. Sometimes the women sounded like men and the men’s voice sounded like a woman imitating men.

The story.

I saw a review about how bad the narration was and thought “give it a chance” but I totally agree. The narration on this one is so hard to listen to.

I agree

Do you ever start reading or listening to a book and you find yourself forgetting it’s fiction? This happened several times during this book. The vivid descriptions allowed my imagination to engage and the dialogue felt like I was in the conversation and simply waiting for the opportunity to jump in. This is a great sequel. A great listen. And I highly recommend Susan Sleeman books in general. I’ve been reading her books and following her for a couple years, I’ve noticed how deeply she researches and is able to make her books extremely realistic!

So real I forgot it was fiction!

A great read and loved seeing how the agents were able to interact and get past previous incidents to get the job done. Evan did the best he could when he and another agent out on a call , but it did not turn out well for the other agent. Now he is working with the partner of the agent on another case and they both have to get past the past to stop the terrorists.

This book really keeps you wanting to know what will happen next and how the agents will handle it. It gets even more personal as they have to not only worry about the general public, but close family members as well, I got this as an audio book and enjoyed the narrator as well.

Enjoyable

Interesting storyline as always;
Narrator is hard to listen to - choppy reading, male voices sound too forced & unnatural.
I did listen to the whole book despite the narrator but was tempted to quit many times. I read the first book and will likely read the 3rd book if the narrator is the same lady.

Interesting Story; Narrator hard to listen to.
