Duty commits her, honor strengthens her, but in the end, it is her love for her child and her own self-worth that propels Amira toward a desperate act.

Despite her fairytale childhood, which included the wealth of the Middle East, Amira was not ready for the savagery of her arranged marriage and inclusion into her husband's harem. In an act of defiance, she escapes with her child to the United States and must come to terms with her new country, new identity, and the very real threat of her former husband's revenge.

Falling in love with an American was never in the plans, but when she does, her new life, successful career, and true love are threatened as her former husband discovers her. Was Amira's new life just a mirage?

I've read this book several times and it gets better each time. It's as though each time I read it, I understand everything so differently and the story hits differently each time. After first finding it in the library of my middle school, and returning to it several times since, I believe it is my favorite book of all time. Such a heartfelt story.

I love this book so much!

This is one of my first Audible books and I am thrilled that I chose it. This gripping story of a woman's struggle in the Middle East left me speechless.

Her story is an example of the need to bring enlightenment to end bigotry and prejudice, something more relevant than ever around the world..

Bravo!

A STUNNING, RIVETING AND EYE-OPENING STORY

The story is quite realistic, it demonstrates the struggles of the Middle Eastern woman and her desperate yet persistent attempts to secure an identity and a life she wants to lead. The style is absolutely compelling, STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, the performance is acceptable, i liked the way she switched her accent.

Khashoggi is Brilliant
