Since summer was six years old she lived with dear Aunt May and Uncle Ob. Now, six years later, Aunt May has died. Summer, who misses May with all her might, is afraid something will happen to Ob. Most days Ob seems like he doesn't want to go on.

But then Ob feels May's spirit around him and he wants to contact her. Cletus Underwood, a strange boy from school, reads about someone who could help him do that. Summer wants to hear from May too.

Ob and Summer don't know what to expect when they set off on their search for some sign from May. They only know they need something to ease their sorrow and give them strength to go on living--always knowing they will never stop missing may.©2004 Cynthia Rylant; (P)2008 Listening Library

I liked how the characters worked through their problems from a sad beginning to a peaceful end. There was nothing to dislike about this Newbery Medal book.

A wonderful heartwarming story about kindness.

I enjoy stories written for all ages. I started my kids on Audio books at ages 5 and 3. We did a lot of driving and my 5 yr old asked if they had read-to-me books for his age like my books on tape. I said I don't know, let's go to the library. They do! We listened to books everyday, at times our commute was 1&1/2 hours. We started with the award winning books on the advice of the librarian. That is why I tried this book. It did NOT disappoint. I laughed, I cried. The author wove a tale of blood doesn't define a family and it's worth.

Love the intro music before each chapter. The final song was “Will the circle be unbroken”. Great summary to the story.

Amazing music to accompany story
