I chose this version because it was free, knowing ahead of time that it was narrated by an AI Voice. The preview seemed decent enough, but after several chapters of zero emotion it became annoying.

Additionally, it’s a different translation of the book which I didn’t realize. If Melville’s is the King James Version of the Bible this is the New Living Translation.
Hearing an AI voice say something like, “hey look at that guy” was disappointing.

As for the book, it’s amazing when it’s about the story but Melville really wanted us all to understand the whale (anatomy and all) and the industry which can be dry.

Still, it’s a classic and everyone should read it. Just don’t go for this AI narrated NLT version… splurge and get a proper version.
