If you want money, you need to understand it first—and it’s way more fun than you might think!

Your school teaches you lots of things…but for some reason, it doesn’t teach you one of the most important skills you’ll ever need—how to manage your money. Sure, you’ve encountered thousands of word problems about money in math, but do any of them tell you what to do with your own money? If you’ve ever been frustrated that you don’t have the cash to do the things you’d like to do or buy the things you want to have, then you have clear proof that you’re missing some essential skills.

These are skills you’re going to need in adult life, when you’ll suddenly be faced with financial decisions you’ve never had to make before. They’re also the skills you need if you want to feel confident about your money now…and they’re the skills you need if you dream of financial freedom in the future.

Everyone dreams of financial freedom, but the reality is, it’s only possible if you know how to manage the money you have and make strategic decisions to help you grow your wealth—but the good news is, these are skills you can pick up now—and it’s much more fun than you might think! This practical and engaging guide is designed specifically for teenagers, and it’s here to show you the ropes so you can set yourself up for financial success.

Inside, you’ll discover:

  • The key money lingo you need to know before you go a step further…and why, if you want to be wealthy, you need to start in your mind.
  • Why you need a budget, how to create one easily, and how you can make sure you don’t miss out just because your budget’s tight.
  • Fun challenges to help you get to grips with saving… and how you can make your savings grow on autopilot.
  • A clear understanding of what a credit score is (and why you should care about it).
  • The difference between “good debt” and “bad debt”—with clear advice for staying on the right side of the line.

My son is about to head out on his freshman year, and I wanted him to have a good grasp on money. This audiobook is just what I was looking for. It is written well and at a level a high school graduate can easily understand. The audio is easy to follow, and the lessons are spot-on for college kids.

It was so eye-opening to hear in chapter 4 “understanding and building credit,” the absolutely gargantuan fees when you borrow money! This is SO important because young people need to know this stuff and there is a reason that financially adept individuals always discuss the importance of getting out of credit card debt first, because it can be a never-ending pit of financial quicksand. The earlier you understand this, the better. On a more positive note though, Skylar Hayes helps young listeners understand the magic of investing and how small pockets of growth here and there compound over time, leading to financial stability down the road. This will be a title I will be sharing with my entire family.

This is the kind of money guide I wish had existed when I was younger. It breaks down concepts like credit, saving, and budgeting in a way that actually feels relevant to real life—not just theory. The mindset piece at the beginning caught me off guard in the best way; it frames wealth as something you can build, not just earn. The short challenges and clear examples make it stick without feeling overwhelming or preachy.
