Martin Moone is eleven and completely fed up with being the only boy in a family of girls. He's desperate for a decent wingman to help him navigate his idiotic life. So when best mate Padraic suggests Martin get an imaginary friend-or "IF" for short-he decides to give it a go.

His first attempt is Loopy Lou, a hyperactive goofball who loves writing rubbish rap songs. But Martin soon gets fed up with Lou's loopiness and decides to trade in his IF for someone a little less wacky. Enter Sean "Caution" Murphy, an imaginary office clerk in a bad suit with a passion for laziness and a head full of dodgy jokes. Sean is full of tips and tricks to guide Martin through the perils of the playground, from dealing with his sisters' pranks to besting the bullying Bonner boys. But getting rid of Lou is not that easy, and having TWO imaginary friends is a recipe for trouble!

“The wacky doodles and preteen humor (think fart jokes) makes this an entertaining read for the middle-grade boy set.” —Booklist

Chris O'Dowd & Nick V. Murphy are comedic writing geniuses & O'Dowd has 1 of the most entertaining voices of his time. Though I loved the Moone Boy TV show, I think I enjoyed the book even more. My only complaint is that it was too short. I hope they write more.
In conclusion, is this technically a children's book?
I... suppose so...
Am I a full grown man who absolutely loved listening to it anyway, & may even listen to it again?
You better believe it!

Moon Boy is an absolutely hilarious story especially the TVs show. Since I am from Dublin I understand all the mannerisms. This story is extremely well structured I adore Moon Boy. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a laugh.

I had seen the show on Hulu and loved it instantly. I figured I better check out the source material and it does not disappoint. The only major concern I had, and I didn't think I'd make it through, was the introduction of Loopy Lou. Happily, that concern was fairly short lived. This book is funny, fun, captures some of the feelings of childhood, and Chris O'Dowd does a phenomenal job as narrator and IF.
