He went looking for a way out. Rome handed him a way down.

Dick Moonlight has had enough.

Enough of the concrete jungle.
Enough of bad memories.
Enough of the woman he loved and lost.

So when a job opens up in Rome, Italy, working as a house detective at a five-star hotel, Moonlight packs his bags and hopes distance will do what whiskey never could—quiet the noise in his head.

It doesn’t.

Instead, an Italian beauty with trouble in her eyes pulls Moonlight into a mess that starts with sex and ends with blood. Before he knows it, he’s tangled in a drug-smuggling operation that runs straight through airport security, crooked TSA agents, and the kind of men who don’t bother with threats because they don’t need them.

Now Moonlight is stuck in a foreign city where the rules are different, the criminals are organized, and one wrong move could leave him face-down in an alley with no one to remember his name.

Moonlight Breaks Bad is pure noir—lonely, violent, and soaked in regret. A hard-boiled detective story about bad choices, worse luck, and the dangerous lie that a change of scenery can save you.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Vincent Zandri, this is Dick Moonlight at his most broken—and his most dangerous.

“Tough, stylish, heartbreaking.”

From the opening scene of Moonlight Breaks Bad I knew I was in for another crazy adventure with Dick Moonlight. Once again, he does more thinking with his little head than the one on his shoulders. And where do you suppose that get him? Well, that’s why you need to read or listen to this story to find out just how deep he gets himself in the proverbial steaming pile of stuff.
Is this a story for everyone? Probably not, but for those of us not opposed to descriptions a little graphic sex or violence oh hell yes, it is most certainly. I’ve read or listened to each of the Dick Moonlight stories and been fully entertained by each. Moonlight Breaks Bad is no exception. Vin Zandri outdoes himself in this Moonlight short with the character descriptions. It’s obvious neither Moonlight nor Zandri are infected with the woke virus.
I listened to the audiobook narrated with virtual voice. While virtual voice can be a detractor in some works, The virtual narrator’s voice Mr. Zandri has chosen for his Moonlight books seems to fit them perfectly. It’s like listening to a radio play from long ago.
