It was the time of the Moon of the Three Rings when the Free Trader ship Lydis landed on the planet Yiktor and junior crew member Krip Vorlund visited a beast show. He was strangely attracted to the owner of the show animals, a delicate and mysterious woman named Maelen. Soon Krip was caught in a vicious struggle by powerful opponents over the fate of Yiktor - and he learned the nature of Maelen's sorcery when he found his mind trapped in the body of a wolf-like creature.

Krip would again inhabit a human body - though not his own - and on a second planet, Thoth, he and the crew of the Lydis would be drawn into a battle between ancient powers and nameless evil. Only Maelen the Moon Singer could save them with her superhuman powers - if she didn't bring death and destruction instead....

Classic Book, Mediocre Narration

Excellent book. I fondly remembered reading this a couple times in the past, though it has been at least 3 decades since the last time. I had forgotten just enough to make it exciting to listen to again. However Chris Abernathy is a pretty lousy narrator. Most of his reading is in a pretty monotonous voice except where he gets a little excited and tends to swallow or choke out the end of sentences. Chelsea Stephens is mostly OK, although many of her reading tends to get a bit melodramatic.

Great sci-fi story!

Loved this intricate tale! Space travel, alien worlds, science and magic. Read some of Andre Norton’s work as a child /teen, and decided to listen to this series now so I could cover some of the books I missed and revisit the ones I had read. Just finished Moonsinger, which contains the first two books. The narrators grew on me, so now I’m getting ready to start the next one which contains books three and four.

pretty good

yeah. it's dated but not bad. I like having 2 narrators . one for the male parts one for the female. overall a good 2 books. I really enjoy having them in one volume.

Excellent story by a great author

This is an old favorite, which I first read in my teen years. It stands the test of time.

horrible

this was the hardest book to listen to for being fantasy. the story is captivating if you can bear through the toneless narration.
