From the acclaimed author of the Chaos Walking trilogy and A Monster Calls comes one of the most provocative teen novels of our time. A boy named Seth drowns, desperate and alone in his final moments. But then he wakes. He is naked, thirsty, starving. But alive. How is this possible? He remembers dying, his bones breaking, his skull dashed upon the rocks. So how is he here? And where is this place? The street seems familiar, but everything is abandoned, overgrown, covered in dust.

What's going on? Is it real? Or has he woken up in his own personal hell? Seth begins to search for answers, hoping desperately that there must be more to this life, or perhaps this afterlife....

Can't give anything away, but this was brilliant.

I came across this book on a list of unexpected twists. The commentator of thr story said the book left them contemplating life...

I will have to agree, as far as the story. It ends well with good ( not irritating) questions.

BTW, the narrator was great! Whoever said he wasn't, must've just been a troll.

BRILLIANT!

I love the story, but THE ENDING. CAN YOU NOT. I wish Therese would be more about when he goes to the online world, and if he remembers everything and if he comes back to Tomasz and Regine. I hate open endings:(

Loooved it

It’s a little confusing at first, but after getting into it some more, everything starts to make more sense. i loved this book. it was my first audiobook and I wish I could read this again for the first time.

I have enjoyed other YA audiobooks by this author and he has been very innovative & creative with his ideas before. This book was entertaining, even though not as exciting as some of his previous novels. This has a lot to say to his listeners and gets a little too thinly veiled preachy. Nevertheless big kudos for making his main character a young gay kid.

Entertaining while doing other things

The idea was good, compelling even. I was definitely hooked in parts. Wouldn’t discourage a read, but be patient with it and expect the plot’s tension to repeat several times

If there’s more than this, then I wanted more from this
