The last thing Kelsey Martin ever expected was for her ex-husband Jared to crash back into her life - and even more surprisingly, with a share of an inheritance! An eccentric relative left them each fifty percent of his ranch in Texas, creating an awkward situation neither were sure how to navigate.

Kelsey had plans for her bakery business to use the family homestead as a picturesque backdrop: Grandma Mary’s Bakery. But Jared wanted to continue running cattle - despite his burgeoning acting career keeping him away from Texas for months at a time.

It seemed like they couldn't agree on anything - except that Kelsey wanted to forget the heartache caused when their marriage ended, while Jared wanted another chance. It would take every ounce of wisdom they had to reach a compromise and make this unlikely partnership work.

The book was entertaining, very old fashioned Diana Palmer style, and I love those stories.
However I really couldn’t enjoy it due to the robotic AI narration. There’s no emotion, no inflections at the right times, no distinction in voice when reading male/female dialogue, so it’s really hard to keep track of who’s saying what, no distinction when the dialogue is portraying anger, sadness, happiness, surprise, etc. so you’re just listening it all in one flat tone.
I bought this because I really wanted to give AI narration a fair try, but this was just awful. It’s the first and only book I’ll ever listen with AI narration.
