Elizabeth Gaskell, famed authour of Cranforn, is cherished for her incise social observations and portrayals of the changing nature of English life through the Industrial Revolution of the Victorian era. Mr. Harrison's Confessions is a warm, funny portrait of life in a small English town. Narrated by the young Doctor Harrison, we follow his practice and his courting in this charming tale. With a light-hearted atmosphere prevailing over the complete narration, the work captures the fancy of the reader with its romantic depiction of the events.©2010 Create (P)2010 Create Classics Heartfelt Funny Drama & Plays

Having watched Cranford on BBC series, I felt I knew Dr. Harrison a bit. Nice to see the author's original portrait. The tale is a rather rollicking and amusing one. Not as serious as my other Gaskill ones - but a fun read. Sometimes I enjoy a lighthearted tale.

pleasantly entertaining

What did you like best about Mr. Harrison's Confessions? What did you like least?

I'm going to have to try to read the story on my own. The narration in this recording is horrible. The reader speaks so fast she is difficult to understand. And while some women can read books where the narrating character is a man, this reader can't.

How could the performance have been better?

Slower, Male reader.

Very difficult to listen to

Love Gaskell’s writing but this performance was so bad it was distracting. I will purchase and read it again myself without having to listen to this harsh reading.

Great book. Disappointing performance

This book is written from the POV of a man, but unfortunately read by a female, which is very distracting and stupid. Also she reads incredibly fast, so its very hard to follow and found myself not tuning in. How can one escape into a narrative that's read like the news? This is very poorly produced, which is unfortunate for the author. In the future maybe I'll pick it up to read, as the story was intriguing, but the audio version is awful.

Not worth it
