When Hannah Greenwood is murdered at the queen's jubilee, suspicion falls on the members of her literary circle. The case makes a baffling turn when it seems that no one has a motive for the murder. Since Inspector Witherspoon was a guest at the ball, the job of finding the murderer falls to him. Fortunately, Mrs. Jeffries is there to help him read between the lines and identify the guilty party behind the deadly plot.

The narrator is awesome and acts out the characters to perfection! I'm in the process of listening to all her Mrs. Jefferies books in order. They're great!

Love all her books!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I highly recommend this series. The story is cute and the characters are so much fun. Lindy Nettleton does a great job narrating flowing in and out of the different voices. She has the perfect voice for this series.

What does Lindy Nettleton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is Mrs. Jefferies and the other characters.

Any additional comments?

I was so excited to see this book pop up and can't wait for the next. I never do figure out who did it.

Excellent narrator. Definitely caught the spirit of the late Victorian age. Loved the concentration on life "below stairs."

A worthy successor to Agatha Christie

Loved it! Lots of red herrings, rooms in a mansion (library, hall, ballroom, kitchen...), lots of motives, lots of characters from many walks of life like Mrs. Greenwood and Mrs. Stanwick (who in the opening chapter is 'overdressed' in a deep red (scarlet? ) dress. Highly recommend!

Fun!! Mrs. Jeffries meets the game Clue!
