A troubled woman. A prayer. A murder in a church. An orphaned daughter.

When she moved back to Cottonwood Springs after a divorce and the publishing company she was working for went bankrupt, Brigid never thought she’d have a ready-made teenage daughter, a huge Newfoundland dog, and a hunky neighbor who wants to get to know her better, a lot better.

But first she has to solve Maggie’s murder. When a woman has stolen money and someone else’s husband, finding her murderer is not everyone’s top priority.

An inspirational cozy mystery from a two-time USA Today best-selling author that will leave you with a smile on your face and a tear on your cheek.

So many potential killers who felt wronged by Maggie that it was soul shattering. I found it ironic that the town came together after her death to help her daughter. Why could no one help before she was killed???? Not such a moral group after all!!!! Just judgy!!! I had the wrong person as the killer. I did cry a bit at the stupidity of it all. Sad that Holly profited from her mom's murder!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

death brings bounty- sad

I'm trying to make my way through this series. I've read a few at the end, it's nice to see how these people came together in the beginning. As usual I enjoyed the story. I listened on Audible. The narrator did a great job. Dianne's books are easy to read, easy to follow and always enjoyable. I will continue to work on this series and move on to another series. I am enjoying my commute to work so much more these days.

Always enjoyable

I’m enjoying this series just as much as the Cedar Bay series! I enjoyed the characters and the story. Brigid was hoping for a quiet lifestyle when she came back to Cottonwood Springs. But instead she finds herself involved with a murder. And somehow she is involved in trying to figure out who the murderer is! There are lots of suspects and motives. The story has some humor, a bookstore, and a little bit of romance.

I enjoyed listening to Murder at the Church, and since I started with books later in the series, it was nice to go back to book 2 and have more backstory. I enjoyed trying to figure out the “whodunit” along with Brigid. I like these shorter stories, so I can finish them in an evening. The narrator wasn’t my favorite, but I still enjoyed the story.

Entertaining cozy mystery

Murder in the Church is the 2nd in Dianne Harman’s Cottonwood Springs mystery series. In this book, Brigid meets Maggie, a recovering addict, and her teenage daughter Holly. The troubled woman is found strangled in a church. Although she was turning her life around, Maggie had made a lot of enemies. Brigid helps the Sheriff sort through the suspects and they solve the crime. Unhappy story for Maggie, but a happy ending. The narration by Anna Wheeler is great! She brings all the character to life!
