This case was a strange one; Detective Sergeant Kathleen Doyle was investigating what appeared to be an "admonishment" murder—a lower-level player in a turf war had been murdered to serve as a warning by a rival gang.

But the whole point of an admonishment-murder was to send a message, and in this case, it was unclear who was sending it, or even to whom it was being sent. And they’d another problem, in that Scotland Yard couldn’t even seem to come up with a cause of death....

This series is just delightful. Another great romp. Best to start with book one and read in sequence.

So much fun

In this episode, we meet all the usual suspects, they are shuffled about a bit, matched and re-matched, and as usual it is fun and amusing as long as one doesn’t demand scientific accuracy or even plausibility on the details (there’s a plot element surrounding birth control that’d never work as described) But this series has never been about the plausible. The Chief Inspector is the charming Deus Ex Machina he always is, and his plucky bride has her own soul-searching to do, and following along remains enjoyable. Recommend!

A fun summer read!!

The Doyle and Acton adventures continue. This one brought back most of my favorite characters, including Gabriel. The author leaves lots of clues for the reader, and it will be fun to see what comes next.

Another great adventure
