I can constantly hear them, the voices. It doesn't matter if I'm in a crowded room or the middle of a desert, I hear them, indistinct voices. I can never really work out what they're saying, and I've long given up trying.

Everything changes when my life is threatened again, and the voices quiet, one strong voice telling me to run, so of course, I listen.

When some supernatural agents turn up in town, I should be cautious, but thanks to my instincts, which have always guided me right before, I'm not worried about them at all, at least, I'm not until they start to notice things about me, differences that no human should have.

Thankfully, a call from my more bloody job saves me from having to stick around. The betrayal that quickly follows doesn't surprise me, it does leave me only one place to go, and I have no idea how he's going to react or if I'll even make it there alive.

It's a good job that I never turn down a challenge because this may be one that I don't survive.

Contains mature themes.

God stemme, morsom historie med sass 😉 glad det er flere bøker så historien blir mere grundig og sterkere.

god stemme som leser og liker karakterene

I’ve read these books 3 x’s this is the first time I’ve listened & I have to say the Audible version is FANTASTIC. While I do really like the story I do not like some of the writing. ***Slight Spoiler Ik the FMC is like ADD but there’s a lot of unnecessary repeating of sentences/words/concepts. Sometimes the sentences are like something completely obvious from the prior paragraph but then the FMC/MMC will say things like “good point” or “I didn’t think about that” but they’re all supposed to be the top investigative team… things like that. *** end of spoiler. A lot of inner monologue which doesn’t usually bother me too much but this series sometimes goes overboard with it. Obviously I like the story enough that I’ve read it more than once, but I’ve not finished the series. I’ve read 6 or 7 of the books. I actually had thought about starting to re read this book the night before but remembered my complaints & decided not to reread it (even though I do plan on finishing the series). I accidentally found this was on Audible the very next morning & on a whim I bought it. I’m super happy I did. Overall the story is really good & the love interests are great and I love all the characters. The female narrator makes this FANTASTIC & actually made me love it more.

One My favorite female narrators!

I want to be like Neith, she is a great character, her crazy matches my crazy. This is book one, so buckel up buttercup you are in for a ride.

I love this series. I was so exited when I saw it was on audible finally. Though the grammar wasn’t amazing in the book versions, I still love the story and the characters SO much. The only thing that bothered me about the audiobook was that they don’t pronounce KITSUNE correctly. I’m a lore fan, and know quite a bit about Japanese lore; much of which includes kitsunes. It’s pronounced “kit-suh-neigh”. Still love the series though.

Love this series but…
