Diana of Drummond is frantic. Tired of waiting for her to choose a husband, her ailing father has selected one for her. Unfortunately, the man he's chosen could not be further from her childhood fantasy of the perfect knight. From the instant she meets him, she knows that her betrothed would make a frightful partner. Luckily for her, the handsome, intrepid Micheil Ramsay is part of the group that escorts her to her betrothed's home. He spirits her away and promises to save her from the ruinous marriage by helping her find the knight of her dreams.

Too infatuated with all women to select just one, Micheil Ramsay is determined never to settle down. But when he rescues Diana of Drummond and brings her to Edinburgh to snare a husband, he finds himself swayed by her beauty, her bossiness, and her bravery. Now he finds himself in the position of trying to help the object of his affection woo another man.

As they embark on a rapid-fire quest to save Diana from her disastrous situation, Diana and Micheil find themselves battling their own hearts. Will they manage to overcome their preconceived notions and recognize the love that's right in front of them?

Sword fights, kidnappings, tantrums, and tyrants: this novel has all the ups and downs to keep a reader hooked. As with most romances half the fun is yelling from the sidelines things like "Get a clue!" And "you idiot, you love her!" Imagery and characters are developed beyond the superficial; I just wish the peril felt more dire. I was too certain he would save her every time. I liked that the plot had many twists and turn and that it didn't just end when the initial conflict was solved. It felt more like a full slice of life, albeit a rather improbable one. The only annoyance for me was the "innocence" of the protagonist; sometimes it just felt like pathetic airheadedness. Thankfully Diana was endearing in other ways.

Very enjoyable romance with villains, heros, adventure, family bonding and a little sorrow. The story wasn’t bloody or graphic.

Lovely romance

It's always a pleasure listening to this narrator; he can be a bit "quirky" at times but it adds a bit of unintended humor to the books.

I like the continuation of this series.
