Is walking your dog a tug-of-war?
At last, a simple way to teach your dog to walk on a leash without pulling your arm off!
In My Dog Pulls: What Do I Do?, you will learn Turid's quick and easy method to train any age, size or breed of dog to walk calmly and quietly on a loose leash. Her approach is humane and based on a solid understanding of why dogs pull and how to work with the dog's nature and the environment to overcome the problem. City, town or country walking will become more relaxed, reducing stress for both dog and owner.
My Dog Pulls explains:
- Why dogs develop pulling problems.
- Simple steps to retraining even a vigorous puller.
- How to rehabilitate the puller with clear, helpful paragraphs.
- Correct use of leashes, collars and harnesses. What works, what doesn't.
- Troubleshooting problems that arise during training.

I also disagree with the author’s opinion on tools, specifically the harness & the prong. The harness, unless the dog has had extensive beginners training, is often used to build drive, the prong just WORKS for some dogs, I suggest finding a behaviorist & an experienced trainer,
Good for inexperienced pet owners.

If you're like me, you respect dogs, you find them to be beautiful inside and out, and you appreciate learning about their mental models. You want to affect the behavior of your dog, but you don't want to shut them down. You don't want them to become deadened robots or walking husks. Or, conversely, aggressive, one-track-minded arseholes.
Turid took the time to research how frequently dogs pull during walks with their owners — then applied her methodologies — then researched and recorded data on how frequently dogs pulled during walks with their owners over time using her techniques. Rinse and repeat. Over and over again.
She evolved these techniques until she could reliably observe patterns that showed dramatic decreases in pulls — down to essentially one pull over time.
That's astounding.
Her methods observably reduce stress in you and your dog, streamline your approach to affecting behavior in your dog, and help you spend less money on resources required to train your dog.
Unless you possess flawless mental recall and a perfect attention span, learning her method (like absorbing any new data) requires listening to this audiobook a few times, perhaps, to imprint your brain properly — so that you can then shape your relationship with your pup to minimize pulling.
This is a great book by a great teacher and I highly recommend it.
