Dodging secret police on the daily, and haggling prices for dried fruit and vintage leathers in heroin-laced bazaars, My Kazakhy is filled with all the gems you wouldn't expect to find from a queer Latino boy serving in the Peace Corps in a third world, Muslim country.

I needed to use up some expiring Audible credit funds, and was looking for a shorter entry for my Fire tablet (that device is not as good for full-length books for me), so picked this one. It worked as something quirky and unusual, though perhaps a bit much so for many people. Can't say as I identified with, or particularly liked, the protagonist, but the story was well written enough to hold my interest. Audio narration fit the book well, although Mr. Collins perhaps over-enunciated a bit.
