For readers of Lisa Jewell, Diane Chamberlain, and Jodi Picoult comes another gripping novel from internationally bestselling author Susan Lewis, about an eccentric old woman, the ghost-writer helping write her memoirs, and the destructive secrets binding them together.

She's rewriting history, but which version of the truth will she tell?

Joely tells other people’s secrets for a living. As a ghost writer, she’s used to scandal – but this just might be her strangest assignment yet. Freda has never told her story to anyone before. But now she’s ready to set the record straight and right a wrong that’s haunted her for forty years.

Freda’s memoir begins with a 15-year-old girl falling madly in love with her male teacher. As Joely sets out to write this troubling love story, she is spun into a world of secrets and lies she could never have imagined, causing her to question everything she thought she knew about her own family.

Delving further into Freda’s past, Joely’s sure she can uncover the truth—but at what cost?

Breathlessly intriguing from the first page to the last, My Lies, Your Lies is a gripping novel that intertwines the tumultuous past of one mysterious woman to the present of another with a harrowing, unexpected twist.

Getting into this book was hard. I was constantly confused, so many different points of view with no help to know when they were switching. Ended up being a good story.

This is the story of an eccentric elderly woman, Freida, who wants to set the record straight about something she did back when she was fifteen years old. Freida hires a ghost writer. But things are not what they seem. Even though the acts she describes revolves around her music teacher, things go even darker.

I will admit that I had several moments where I wanted to stop and abandon this novel. I am a former teacher/librarian and a student/child, no matter what age, is still a student/child. The adult is the adult and knows better! Even if I wasn’t in education, I would still feel this way. So this novel for the better first half was disturbing and difficult for me.

Good but Disturbing

Got through 4 chapters before skipping to last one. I'm no genius but saw it all coming. The narration would have been great had the two narrators decided on a speed. The first one was fine, second one too slow. Alternating the reading speed every chapter hastened my exit.

Slow and predictable

I think the plot layout was masterful and maddening (in a good way). The story line is complex and dark and may not be for everyone, especially in today’s day and age.

Twisty and Surprising
