Sam is 17, starving herself and longing for oblivion. Her sister, Jena, is mentally scarred and desperate to remember. Between them, they share secrets too terrible to recall.

Eighteen months earlier, Sam was still full of hope: hope that she could piece together Jena's fragmented memory after the vicious attack that changed their family forever. But digging into the past unearthed long-hidden lies and betrayals, and left Sam feeling helpless and alone in a world designed to deceive her.

Now, in a last bid to save her from self-imposed shutdown, Sam's therapist is helping her confront her memories. But the road to recovery is a dangerous one. Because Sam has not only been lying to her doctors: she's been hiding dark secrets from herself.

My Sister and Other Liars is a compelling story made much, much worse by at least 5 or more hours of severe boredom to which the reader/listener must suffer through to get to the end. It should be a 3 to 4 hour novella. Actually, one can get almost the full impact of the story by listening to the first hour followed by the final two hours. British author Ruth Dugdall has written at least 10 prior novels all of the psychological/crime thriller genre, so she is not a novice writer. The good news is that with a Kindle Unlimited membership the cost of the novel was only $1.99.

Narrator Henrietta Meire deserves extra recognition for her outstanding narration which is the only factor that kept me listening. She also narrated the wonderful DI Nikki Galena "on the Fens" series by Joy Ellis.

This novel would make a 5 star novella!
